Scrappy Strips Quilt Along
In February of 2025 I ran the Scrappy Strips Quilt Along on my YouTube channel and inside Scrap Club.
The quilt along had two layout choices – one with larger traditionally pieced quilt blocks, and one with smaller foundation paper pieced quilt blocks.
Both layouts used just two blocks – a bargello quilt block and a scrappy log cabin quilt block – to use up your leftover scrap fabric strips!

Week 1 – Fabric Pull and Introduction
The first week of the quilt along was all about introducing the two layouts, talking about fabric choices and getting ready to start. You can watch the week 1 video below.

Week 2 – Scrappy Bargello Quilt Block
In week 2 I introduced the first of our two scrappy quilt blocks for this quilt. The video covers both the traditional and foundation paper-pieced methods of constructing this super fun block.
Week 3 – Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt Block
The second of the two quilt blocks in this quilt is an old favorite – the log cabin block, with a bit of a scrappy twist. Again, the video covers both sized blocks – traditional and the foundation paper pieced versions. To get the FPP printable patterns you need to be a member of Scrap Club. Week 4 – Quilt as You Go Construction Option
Week 4 was a bonus video specifically for my subscribers who have been asking for a full quilt example of my favorite Join & Flip Quilt as You Go Method.
I used this method on the foundation paper pieced version of this quilt that also included denim. I often turn to quilt as you go when I make quilts with old jeans so this was the perfect quilt to use as an example.
Week 5 – Big Finish!
In week 5 of the quilt along, I finished my traditionally pieced version of this quilt and added an unplanned scrappy border too!
I also experimented with some different quilting designs on my HandiQuilter Moxie long arm.
