Journal Quilt Cover Craft

I’ve made quite a few of these Journal Quilt Covers as Christmas and birthday presents.

You can make a quilted book cover in 1-2 hours depending on how much time you spend on the quilting part.

Supplies Needed

– Ribbons, buttons, elastic (optional) – Journal – Quilt Batting – Fabric Scraps – Lining fabric

Measure your book around the spine from the edge of the front cover to the edge of the back cover. That is your width.

Measure your book cover.

Then use your tape measure to measure the height of the book along the front cover vertically. This is your height.

You can use straight lines, free motion quilting, or use a decorative stitch on your machine.

Quilt Your Journal Cover.

Take the two pieces you cut and fold them in half wrong sides to wrong sides.

Attach the Journal Cover Flaps.

Place the raw edge of that folded piece of fabric along the side edges of each end of your fabric cover (the short edges).
